A Brief History Lesson:

The Alpha Tau Chapter was founded on the campus of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on March 2, 1969. The chapter founding sisters are Carol Burton, Heidi Heidenreich, Sherry Moniak, MaryAnn Douglas, Linda McCune, Jo Sleva, Carol Evans, Diane Miller, and Sue Nicery.

Every two years Alpha Tau sends their representatives with other chapter's representatives to meet with national staff, such as Chris Covington the national president to discuss new policies, procedures and events. This summer our chapter won the Beta District Excellence Award and one of the Music Awards.

Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority (Alpha Chapter) was founded on November 4, 1899, at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan by eight women. Today, Alpha Sigma Tau has over 80 collegiate chapters and over 40 alumnae associations worldwide.

Becoming a National Organization involved tremendous dedication, devotion, time and faith to achieve what the Founders and five alumnae and faculty advisers accomplished. These national board members were the leaders in the growth and organization of Alpha Sigma Tau. Their dreams and efforts would not have materialized without the loyalty and interest of faculty and alumnae advisers. To these fine women, Alpha Sigma Tau is indebted for the ideals, organization and nationalization of the Sorority. The founders and advisers deserve deep appreciation for establishing a firm foundation for our Sisterhood.
